United Church Calls New Pastor

Penacook, NH - United Church of Penacook announces the appointment of Rev. Jerry McCann as its new pastor. The church’s Search Committee chair person, Liz Blanchard, a widely known Merrimack County Commissioner and long time Ward One Concord city councilor said, “The Search Team felt Rev. McCann was the full package. He’s worked in the ‘real world’, has an impressive seminary education and helped grow the two previous churches he led!”

Before entering ministry, Rev. McCann worked in the sale and marketing of consumer products, including Kraft Foods, Dial Soap, Armour Hot Dogs and Banquet Frozen Foods. His last business position was as Senior Vice President of Marketing with the American Dairy Association in Chicago (got milk?). Upon making his career transition, McCann obtained his Master’s of Divinity at Bethel Theological Seminary in St. Paul, and has pastored churches in Minnesota and New York State.

“Admittedly, serving at a church in New England was among my preferences, since my wife and I are originally from small towns in Maine. What confirmed God’s calling me to Penacook was the overwhelming response I received from the believers at United Church. United in their love for Christ and for others, they committed to working together with me as a church family, toward making an even greater difference in the community where God has us.”

“We believe God has a way of bringing the right pastor together with the right church,” said Search Team member, Leslie Durgin. “The congregation is excited about welcoming Pastor Jerry and his wife, Dell, to our community.”

Located in the center of Penacook, at the corner of Merrimack and Canal Streets, United is a “come as you are church” where you’ll hear the word of God taught. People may visit the church website at www.ucpnh.org or call the church office at 603-753-4072 for further information.
